What Happens To My Belly Button After Tummy Tuck?
Oddly enough, this is a pretty common question here at Destination Beauty Australia. We reckon it makes sense too, 'cause what exactly DOES happen to your navel when you have a tummy tuck done? After helping quite a few Australians just like you get tummy tuck surgery done here in Thailand we know the answer.
Nothing!
The umbilicus or navel or belly button, depending on your preference, is fixed to the underlying tissue of the abdomen. It's not going anywhere! Even during a full tummy tuck, which is the most aggressive kind of tummy tuck surgery, it remains exactly where it's supposed to be.
During the procedure, the surgeon cuts the skin around the umbilicus so that the skin can be pulled tight. After the skin is stretched to its new position a hole is cut for the umbilicus, which hasn't moved an inch. As you can see, even if the abdominal skin is pulled up to tighten things a bit (what surgeons call a "re-draping"), the belly button stays in place.
